So since I mentioned the benefit of having your maternity session on another blog post ( kimiphotography.com/portland-maternity-photo-studio ), I also would like to write how we can plan your maternity portrait session.
Unless you have health concerns, we usually schedule your session around 28-34 weeks of pregnancy. Some people want to wait until the last moment, but it gets harder to pose and walk around in the last month. The session will be a 1.5 to 2 hours photo session. After your consultation, I will send you an agreement, so you can sign up and send the form to let me know you would like to schedule and book your session.
During the consultation for your Portland studio maternity photo session, we will go over your color and mood. If you don’t have any ideas we can suggest some to you or we can talk about it via emails after the consultation. We have several portrait backgrounds, furniture, and props to go with, so depending on your color and mood, I will coordinate the session. Also we have some maternity dresses, so I will send you our on-line catalogue and you can let me know which one you would like to try on. We try to have all sizes, but everyone has a different body figure and some people bring their own dress or gown for their session. Either way, we try to visualize your session by talking about your color and dresses.
Yes, we do have offer our hair and make up artist to work with you on your Portland studio maternity photo session! We use lights to photograph and our makeup artists knows how to work with studio lights. If you are interested in making your session even more special, I would recommend to get your make up done with a professional makeup artist. How often do you have professional makeup? It boosts your confidence in front of the camera too.
On the other hand, if you do not have time for professional makeup (like you have an older kid and it’s hard to take 2 hours for yourself), we totally understand! No worries. You can wear makeup and do your hair by yourself. If you can bring your lipstick to retouch that would be helpful. Oh! I cannot forget about nails. A part often forgotten is nails! Please do not forget to remove your manicure if they are chipped. Or please color & freshen up your nails.
When you come to our studio, I always ask our clients to bring joy. You don’t have to be nervous. Although, I totally understand your feeling, since I get shy when I have to be in front of a camera. Pictures show all your emotions, so being shy is not so helpful though. I will direct you for posing and create a fun session and hopefully you don’t have to be nervous the whole time. We also take some breaks to change the settings, so bring your snacks and water to hydrate during the session.
