Hi, I’m Kimi, and together with my husband Mike, we are the team behind Kimi Photography in Portland, Oregon.
Photography, for me, is more than capturing an image. It’s about preserving the emotion and meaning of a moment. Turning something fleeting into something lasting. I believe these memories deserve to live beyond a screen, as tangible pieces of art that tell your family’s story for generations.
My passion is creating heirloom artwork that becomes part of your family history. I want every image we create together to hold significance. Something your children will see in your home, something they will one day pass down with their own memories attached.
We specialize in newborn, maternity, milestone and family photography. Each session is planned with care and intention, blending artistry with genuine connection so your portraits feel effortless and full of heart.
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m often exploring beautiful locations around Portland or refining the little details that make every session unique. From the first conversation to the moment you hold your finished pieces, my goal is to create an experience that feels thoughtful, personal, and meaningful. One that transforms your moments into art that will last a lifetime.
About Kimi…I guess without telling where I am from, it is hard to describe myself…I am originally from Osaka Japan. Though now I’ve been in the US almost as much as I’ve been in Japan.
I’ve been in the photography industry for over 18 years. I am professionally educated as a newborn photographer since 2013 through WPPI. I started Kimi Photography in 2014, and over the years we’ve photographed about 500 babies and their families.
When I was 23, I had a hard time in not being able to have my own kids. It made me want to capture the beauty of the family and the purity of life, so I even appreciate going through the tough times, but it was hard for me in my 20’s.
Throughout our marriage, my husband really supported me and encouraged me. Yeah, I think being married is awesome! Also, celebrating the growing families of my clients and friends are so encouraging to us! As every year we are growing as a couple, my aspiration of photography is to capture this joy and love in photos for you, friends and family to enjoy and remember.
Primarily the support and encouragement system, I work the administrative, organization, and print portion of Kimi Photography. I also create some of the art we use uniquely at Kimi Photography. I’ve got the entrepreneurial spirit and love talking business, always with an easy going style and a smile of course.

I also love handcrafting album boxes and print media. It’s so wonderful seeing our client’s photographs come to life when making prints. There is just so much magic and emotion captured within each photograph that your photos will certainly be a treasured memory forever.
