Are you excited to celebrate your baby’s 1st birthday? They grow so fast in the first year, they start to stand up and walk around when they come back for their 1st birthday! What a fun time! One year old babies are super cute, but as parents know, they still need some help to coordinate the session, since they need to have naps, snack frequently, and are attached to parents very much.
In studio 1st birthday session would be very helpful to coordinate your baby’s birthday celebration!
Why in-studio 1st birthday session?
Please don’t take it wrong! I love having outside sessions for family portraits and other portraits sessions. However, I have some reasons why I suggest having an in-studio 1st birthday session.
Baby's active time vs. Best photo time
From our experience, babies are usually active and happy 30 mins after their naps. We schedule 1st birthday session considering this timing. That is the time that we can capture more smiles and the interaction with their parents. Most babies take naps in the morning and early afternoon. On the other hand, the best photo time for photographers in general is right before the sunset. Most one year olds would not last until sunset. We can take you to shady spots, but it would limit the choice of places.
Weather confliction
I write this, because I have been dealing with Portland weather for 13 years now (I’ve lived here for 13 years so far). Summer is great and we can guess the weather most of the time. I can even predict it will be pretty much sunny all day from Mid July to Mid August 2022! Hehe 🙂 Winter time is out of question (Rain, Rain and Rain….), but even in Spring and Fall, we need to be pretty flexible to schedule our sessions. 15 mins of rain makes the ground wet. Most one year old babies want and try to move around and wet ground doesn’t help for a session.
Easy to be cleaned in studio
Babies love to touch around, crawl and walk around at the age. We sanitize our studio for every sessions with 70 % alcohol and also vacuum. Since we let babies grab the cake and eat, I would like to provide our sessions as safe as possible. Also, we have a sink in the studio, so it’s very easy to clean after the mess. Sticky sugar can make rashes on babies’ sensitive skin, so it is always nice to have an area to clean them!
I wish we have more sunny days in Portland. Like I mentioned above, I love outside sessions as much as in studio sessions! However, depending on the kid’s age and needs, in studio sessions can be very helpful to plan a fun photo session. The least thing we would like is when parents have to hustle or scramble for the photo session.
