Even in this world pandemic, new little lives are coming in to this world, and many people are becoming parents! In March, before we we were asked to close our business temporarily for the state order, we provided this food donation for single moms in Oregon.
The idea of food donations came across when I was talking to some newborn photography clients of ours. Some of the moms, who come to our studio for maternity pictures and newborn photography, share how they adjust their life for their baby, during the session. Sometimes I hear some difficulties of adjusting and pain also. I can imagine it must be hard even with the big amount of joy.
Before the US was affected by Covid-19; when it was getting serious in Europe, One of my clients said “I cannot imagine how much more the new life would be harder with the restriction. It is considered inappropriate to ask for help to friends and family in those circumstances. How can single moms go to work, shop, and raise her baby?”
The word made me think of being a single mother with a newborn. I am sure I will be worried about our lives. Not even sure I would have a job to support the two of us with the economic situation going downhill and how can I even get essentials with a newborn baby…
It did not take a long time to see the signs: no pasta, no canned food, no diapers, no sanitizers and no wipes in our neighboring stores in Portland.
I contacted to one of the Christian based NGO, Saving Grace Maternity Home in Hillsboro, if we can somehow help those maternity and newborn baby’s mothers, who are strong and facing up to adversity in the situation. Our donation was received and got connected to local moms! I believe that no one should be left by this situation. All babies should be treated as gift of our society, and moms who need some help should be supported.
We were able to do a small amount of food donation for single moms in Oregon this time, but I am hoping to be connected with more NGOs which help parents and newborn babies in the future.
I love getting ideas from my clients! I appreciate their thoughts and ideas. I even love it if we as Kimi Photography can get together and do something good for babies, kids, and families!
At last, I really hope that we will have our “normal” life back soon. Everyone stay healthy. We are still accepting some maternity picture and newborn photography sessions for this summer for when the restriction is lifted. Please contact us through https://kimiphotography.com/contact/
